Title: Label on Bottle - reverse side black
Post by: Aydya on July 02, 2021, 02:25:58 AM
Hi all

Like the title suggests I have a bottle. When I apply a label, the reverse of the label (the back side of the bottle) shows black. Even if I make the samle label fully white it does this. If I turn off self shadows I get the colour through but otherwise it's black. I've tried splitting the bottle up and applying the label to one plane but that didn't make a difference.

The bottle has a matte finish created by setting the roughness to .1. I do know this make the bottle darker but the colour of the bottle is set correctly and looks fine. I've tried using cloudy plastic to create it and it still happens, then when I spilt the geometery up I get issues with the bottle finish.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Make sure you've enabled Global Illumination; otherwise your label will stay dark.
If it's still dark (depending on your materials) Caustics may need to be on as well.
