I would like to know if we can still work while rendering. Basically I hit render and the preview window opens up and then blocks the working area, allowing me to work only when the render it's complete. There's any possible way to continue working while rendering?

Choose the Render in Background option. The current render will open in a new session and allow you to work in the other.
