Title: Function, Scale, Details, and Composition
Post by: simonw on January 04, 2022, 01:40:31 PM
Here's an exercise/project that I introduced in CAD 1 – Industrial Design Program, Wentworth Institute of Technology this semester.

Part 1: Model up a series of existing products that in composition build a convincing desktop scene at which a designer might find themselves. For context - In another class the students had just completed a blue foam and a foam core project, for example. Fully render the scene using KeyShot

Part 2: Manipulate and reconfigure all of the "real products" into a composition that now describes a sci-fi asset, without any modeled modification to the individual parts. Only materials, textures, decals and environment can be altered.

Making it real can often be a great challenge, making it unreal can be a lot of fun.
