Title: Creating mesh materials from scratch
Post by: Keyshot_N00b on April 11, 2022, 03:22:41 AM
Hey everyone!

So I'd say my level of expertise is somewhere between beginner and intermediate in that I can happily edit someone's material graph but couldn't just create one without guidance.

I'm trying to create this architectural mesh https://architecturalwiremesh.com/architectural-wire-mesh-pattern/expanded-metal-patterns/garston-architectural-expanded-metal/ (https://architecturalwiremesh.com/architectural-wire-mesh-pattern/expanded-metal-patterns/garston-architectural-expanded-metal/) material and trying to work out how to do it.

Does anyone have any experience creating mesh materials, or can anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial to start me on my way?

Any help greatly appreciated!

It depends how close up you are going take these shots. If it's as close up as in your preview, I might just model it instead of using displacement maps. If it's from far enough, this is most likely the place to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjMz1_qC_Nw
