Title: import big size (about 12 GB) Alembic file into Keyshot
Post by: mayaalias on April 21, 2022, 08:30:15 PM
Hi,

Try to import a very big size (about 12GB) Alembic file into Keyshot, but it keep saying out of memory, is there any limitations?

Before we used a rig which got 16GB of RAM, of course it failed, but when we switched to another one which got 64GB ram still cannot make it.

Thanks in advance.

Douglas

I would rather say it is GPU memory limit, I am having same limitations when importing alembic files. You can try to simplify the mesh in modeling software or divide deformable animation into two parts and import in two separate keyshot files (i know this is not a pleasure but this is what we do usually)

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, we will try to split it into different small-size files to see if it works or not.

Best Regards,

I would rather say it is GPU memory limit...

THIS would be really interesting, to learn what is limiting.
And if it's really GPU memory: is there a way to find a good workaround (Keyshots devs) ??
