Title: Audi Q7 at Clew Bay
Post by: JohnG on May 09, 2010, 09:21:57 AM
A couple of renders of an Audi Q7, the DOF was done in post, its actually more of a swing/tilt effect.

Very nice ... the scale of car relative to the rocks seems a bit out of proportion to me ...

Thanks for the feed back Thomas, I agree it may look like the car is too small but I think this is because of the swing/tilt effect which throws the foreground out of focus. Here's the same image as it came from keyshot before any post work.

Just to illustrate the point, the second image, which is a straight photograph on a 4x5 film camera (no cgi) was shot with extreme forward tilt on the lens, as I just wanted just the tennis net in focus. So the plane of focus is almost horizontal, along the Z axis if you will. Many people looking at this image seem to think that the tennis court is a scale model rather than full size. This is the sort of effect I was after with the Audi renders.
