I will like that one can lock a animation in the timeline.

not using animation yet, but ...

I love the option to lock the camera and this seems like a kinda similar thing.  Just to make sure you don't accidentaly edit it, even the slightest bit.

Yep - you have the ability to lock individual layers in After Effects for all the same reasons.  Maybe just have a shortcut key that locks and changes color of the animation rather than add a lock check box and icon like AE has.
