Title: Importing SWX // multi objects in one part
Post by: Alex on February 17, 2010, 11:55:42 AM
Hello,

I tried importing wether a part or a STEP file from the part containing more objects. This cannot be done correctly. It worked after exporting the objects into single parts and 'rebuilding' them in an assembly.

I also had incorrect or missing surfaces in KeyShot.

Any ideas why?

Best,
Alex

Why are you not importing SolidWorks files directly?

I did. First I tried a multi-object .prt - failed, means no propper material applyable. Then i exported the same SWX file into STEP214 - same result. After exporting all objects of the .prt into differnt parts and putting them together into an assembly file it worked correctly.

Ah - you had multiple bodies in a part file? If that's the case you will still have to apply different colors to the individual bodies. HyperShot will then recognize it as separate material groups.

Thanks for clarification Thomas! I will try it the way you wrote. Additionally I'll improve my English ;-)
