I used Maya to create the planes and the water effect.
Abed - long time no hear! Excellent to see your work.
Simply beautiful. So great to see your work again Abed!
Love the material/texture that is behind the hour numbers. Looks very real.

Abed, it is great to see your talent back on the forum. It has been far too long. You've always been one of my favorites.

Absolutely love the first image. It just looks right.
I agree with caden ... all the water stuff .. for me .. is destracting. The first one is REAL nice .. If you ask me .. must be top 3 at least ..
I'm not worthy..... :o
Amazing work !
Now I remember you. From the Bunkspeed days. I've always admired your work! You have amazing skills.
Hey, Egon- you mean "OldShot?

Some lovely renders, though I personally find the water and glass stuff distracting, and prefer the ones focussed on the watch more :)
Cheers!
They are all stunning! I don't mind the glass and stuff at all- it's very creative. I do have a question, though. Knowing how the dial is mapped, how did you get those concentric rings? I presume it's a texture image with bump? Very effective.
Bill G
Yes it is Bill. I used the front shot to get the perfect UV map, then I created a normal map in Photoshop.
QuoteYes it is Bill.
That's what I figured, and it's the best use of a normal map I've yet seen. Thanks for sharing!

Time to focus on some animation since I have free time at the moment. A teaser for you to enjoy!

Abed - all your work is amazing. The bar is set very high in this contest.
Ed
This one looks like it's been in a freezer overnight :p
The level is high indeed ... soon Seiko, Rolex, Festina, Rhodania, ... are going to contact us all to work for them ;D
Philip, I created this mat used material, I found it interesting and it has a new look.

Awesome work!
Thanks Thomas!
Here is another render.

Below is the watch animation video link. It wasn't easy for me since I always use Maya in my animations. I hope you like it.

I'd love to see the last render without the glass, as the lighting looks lovely on it. The animation looks excellent, though a little long. I reckon 1m 30s would be an optimum duration IMO.
Cheers!
Thanks for the comments CAClark!
Maybe a couple of renders without the shattered glass will make you happy :)

Wow. That animation is amazing!!

That last watch render minus the extras is indeed making me happy :)
Cheers!
Abed - Your video is very professional. That took some time and it's well done.
What video editing / FX software do you use?
Ed
Thanks for the comments!
Ed, I usually use After Effects..

Thanks. That is what I use as well.
I guess I have a lot more learning and practice ahead of me :) Thanks again for showing what is possible.
Ed
This might be the last render. Enjoy!!
No post has been done, this is a straight render from KeyShot.

Good luck everyone, and thanks to the KeyShot team for this amazing opportunity!!!
Well, it's Saturday morning here in California, and I'm just catching up with the many posts after a much needed vacation.
I just watched your first animation video.
I'm simply stunned! Abed, your elegant vision and mastery is not only an inspiration, but a very high marker for us all to attempt to reach, each in our own way.
Thank you so much, and I look forward to seeing you on the winner's podium, right in the center!
Bill G
