Title: Network Rendering, Master Runs Out of Disk Space
Post by: Ruckus on August 30, 2012, 12:58:29 PM
No matter how big I buy hard drives, our pool of users can fill them up quite quickly.  This has happened several times on our Network Rendering Master.  Our .bip files are huge, 4GB is not unusual.  Last night we crashed after 18 of 39 jobs. :(

I noticed that everything that goes to the Master, stays on the Master. 8)    This is good in terms of keeping the final image/animation until the user can verify that they have the data and removes the job from the queue.  But, what reason is there for keeping the files that came in from the client?  When the job is done, delete those input files.

It may not be a perfect solution, but I think we will get further down the list before running out of space.  Additionally, I am building a dedicated Master machine now with more space available than I can get out any repurposed user's machine.
