Title: autodesk inventor and keyshot animation
Post by: Pedro_Julio on October 27, 2012, 10:23:23 AM
Has anyone used an Autodesk Inventor based model assembly in a KS animation?

I ask because I've never been able to use KS with an Inventor assembly even for simple rendering with 100 % success.  I usually have to export to a STP file, and I'm not totally sure all of the assembly contraints survive the transition from one format to the other.  Or do those constraints make no difference in KS?

There are no constraints in KS as you have in Inventor.  So, no .. they are not imported.  It would be nice if it would though ... I have one door hinge in our product range that has quite complex movement, which mostly only works with Inventor constraints or if you can have a bone structure with 2 parents.

I see.  The assembly I have in mind is a bit more than a hinge, so I may be out of luck with KS in this case.

Thanks.

Constraints are not supported.
