Title: 3DS Max multi/sub-object materials problems
Post by: Pepster3D on December 21, 2012, 09:01:27 AM
I have a problem with importing models into Keyshot from 3DS Max, when the objects contain multi/sub-object material assigned to them.  In other words, if I have a 3d model of a car, but all the parts are attached together as 1 object, and all the materials assigned to the car are contained in 1 shader in Max, that is a multi/sub-object material.  When I bring the model into Keyshot, the whole car only has 1 material ID and I can't assign different shaders to the different parts.  In Max, the different parts do have different material IDs, but come into Keyshot as only 1 material ID.

Is there a way to fix this?  I have had this problem for a couple of years now, and it still seems to exist in the latest build.

Thanks-
