Title: mapping options with a mesh material
Post by: David on February 24, 2010, 01:34:54 AM
As a follow on to the "textures finish" topic.

Is it possible to change the mapping propjection of a Mesh material to work around the issues when mapping to dome shapes from solidworks?

If it were possible to change the mesh to map onto a plane then it would be an adequate work around but in the general tab you dont seem to have the option.

and when mapping onto a plastic for example the option to texture modulate is not available.

also is issue specific to solidworks Dome shapes?

Thanks

David

The Mesh is using a different material all together and you can't change the mapping type. What you can try is apply a texture to the dome inside of SolidWorks prior to exporting to KeyShot.

We are reworking this for v2 of KeyShot.

Hi Thomas

Thanks for the reply, I think this is a failing inside the way that solidworks maps textures to dome shapes.
I have tried every possible mapping option and get the same result when applying a mesh.
Mapping options for mesh shapes would be a nice feature for a future release.

Thanks

Absolutely - we are working on it.
