Title: Primary Environment and Secondary Environment
Post by: ec2638 on May 07, 2013, 12:34:29 PM
Would it be technically possible to load more than one environment, with one being the primary, and a second being assigned only to specific parts?

Recognizing that skillful environment creation/modification can go a long way, assuming such can be achieved, the process can be time consuming.  Often, for larger object with, for example, matte plastic parts and chrome parts, one existing environment will look great with the plastic and not so great with the chrome.  Another existing environment may make the chrome look great, and the plastic not so.  This is especially so with white studio environments.

If doable might having this option be a productivity boon?

Check out the Viewsets feature in the KS Pro version.

Use Viewsets to create a new view using a different HDR environment and/or backplate and/or environmental settings.  This is useful for incorporating a different HDR for the wheels verses the car body for example.

To add a viewset, click the camera icon and select > Add viewset.  Once a viewset has been added the current camera and environment settings will be added.  Make sure you lock the camera in place before creating viewsets.  Selecting the Camera names will pull up the saved Viewsets.

Render with clown pass and render layers options selected.  Bring all into Photoshop.  Now you can select the various parts of your model made with the secondary HDR.

Yes, nice solution to achieve the same.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Still, from my point of view, a secondary HDR feature would be nice to avoid the extra steps and post processing work.
