Title: Anisotropic with Clear Coat
Post by: red_orca on July 17, 2013, 06:18:58 PM
As per the subject - I need to create a material that has the roughness X maxed out and roughness Y to be almost 0, angle set to 90...and then a clear coat over the top (a la metallic paint) to reflect environment/light.
Colour is set really dark, specular is same hue but light and vibrant.

Is there anyway to achieve this inside Keyshot?

I'm currently doing multiple passes (one for undercoat, one for clearcoat reflections) and combining/editing in Photoshop.
Not the best workflow. Somewhat time consuming.

If this isn't possible currently - could it be added in an update?

Instead of making a dedicated material (which is fine btw) a more powerful function would be to have the ability to layer multiple materials on the same part in Keyshot and be able to tweak each material layer's opacity and blending mode.

THAT. Would be fantastic.

Right now, try and apply a transparent label to the material, and control its specularity by changing color and IOR.

Here's some more info in relation to what Thomas said: http://keyshot.com/forum/index.php/topic,838.0.html

Thanks for that - decent workaround -
only side effect is that it darkens undercoat but that's easy enough to correct.
