when i render out an object with glass material, the alpha channel is being cut out, but i have no transparency in the alpha channel. Am i missing a setting?

Alpha's don't have transparency, only values between 0-255. When premultiplied with your RGB layer in Photoshop, that layer will become transparent or semi transparent depending on the values in your alpha. Black = remove; White = keep; Grey values are in between.
