Title: Detailed info on label (decal) mapping?
Post by: owenbolwell on July 30, 2010, 03:09:59 AM
Being a newbie to CAD rendering I'm wondering if someone could please point me in the direction of any useful info on 'mapping' labels etc.  I'm trying to get my head around the various mapping (projection)styles...normal, box, etc.

What has prompted this is a small issue I have with my current model, a vehicle, where I place a transparent png image onto the 'right hand side' surface using 'normal projection' - no problem.  When I go to use the same technique, placing the same png image onto the opposite or 'left hand side' surface using 'normal projection' it does not appear.

It's only when I fiddle around with the settings and change the projection mode to 'box' that it comes into view - different coordinates and mapping style to achieve the same result.  This has me confused as I thought 'normal projection' would work on the LHS surface the same way it worked on the RHS surface.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

thanks

Owen

I am not sure I fully understand what you are trying to do. Can you show an example?

Thanks Thomas.  I'll put together an example and post it.
