Title: Hiding a item but maining the shadows?
Post by: LiteHold on January 04, 2014, 05:05:09 PM
Is this possible?

So say I've got 2 objects in a seen which are reflecting on each other. I want to hide one of them but maintain the shadow.

Make the object you want to hide a emissive material make sure your brightness is 0. Then open the advance tab and uncheck the visible to camera box. This is will make your part invisible to the camera but you will maintain the shadow it creates. Unless you uncheck that box too.
I hope this helps

Is there a way in animation to make the part seem to fade away? I'm a newbie to KeyShot Animation.

Not yet. One way of doing it is to apply a translation animation to the part and make the time interval of the animation very short while making the distance long enough so the part disappears from the screen.

Thanks Thomas!

That's exactly what I did, but wanted to see if there was another way or if I'm missing something. I've been using HyperShot for years and just now getting into the animation side of KeyShot.

Thanks again for the response. I'm sure I'll be hanging around this forum a lot!
