Title: Pivot Point For Turntable
Post by: Robb63 on June 10, 2014, 11:52:17 AM
Is it possible to pick a point to pivot around for a turntable animation? I essentially have a box for my product, but it has two screws sticking out of the back which throw off the visual center point

Can you use a 360ยบ rotation animation instead?

The object is nearly all flat black, so wouldn't that method give me a very dark result as the camera moves around the back?
I remember something posted a long time ago about animating an HDRI (or something) to solve this?

May a camera orbit be the solution in this case?

I believe you may be thinking of the technique used in this quicktip: http://youtu.be/SDfmvsDEGd8 (http://youtu.be/SDfmvsDEGd8)

As Thomas said, try using a 360 rotation in combination with a 360 camera orbit.
