Title: keshot not importing Sketchup layers
Post by: jfleischhacker on October 02, 2010, 12:05:17 PM
Keyshot (v 1.9) seems to be ignoring my layers from my Sketchup model (Sketchup v. 7). When I try to apply a material in Keyshot to one of the elements/layers of my model, almost everything takes on that material.

Any ideas?

I wonder the same thing. Out of curiosity i imported my sketchup models. I wanted to paint my house, but Keyshot 3 (Demo) applies it to all layers at once.

You need to color the pieces separately inside SketchUp prior to exporting.

I have installed the plug-in for Sketchup and have changed the layers in Sketchup before opening it in Keyshot,
Yet it still does not separate the layers in Keyshot.
It is applying the same material to multiple layers.
Anyway to solve this without starting the model from scratch in Rhino or another program?

It appears that layers are not yet fully supported. But you can always assign different colors to the faces / objects in order to treat them as separate material groups inside of KeyShot. The plugin also supports groups.
