Title: Speed Render Contest Guidlines
Post by: Josh3D on October 20, 2014, 05:38:22 AM
The Speed Render Contest is a weekly challenge to show what you can do with KeyShot in two hours and learn from others. Each Monday a new challenge will be posted by the previous week's winner.

Prize:
Four hours of free render farm time to the winner of the speed render contest, courtesy of 3DOTP  (http://www.3dotp.com/)!

Rules:
1. Download the CAD model, import it to KeyShot and show of your skills.

2. Complete the render in two hours, including final render time and post processing.

3. Play fair. We trust that you don't use more than two hours total.

5. Make as many renderings as you like, as long as you're selective and show the absolute best you can do.

6. Upload the image to the thread before the end of the deadline.

7. Together with your render you should state:
          a) Time spent.
          b) Software used (Besides KeyShot, eg. Photoshop).

8. The purpose of these speed rendering contests is to push your own limits and learn from others. If you like, it's much appreciated if you upload a KeyShot .ksp of your scene. In that way, others can learn from your techniques.

9. Minimum resolution: 1280x720 (16:9 aspect ratio, horizontally or vertically). Using a higher resolution is fine.

10. When time is up, a poll is created and it's possible for all members of the forum to vote on their favorite. The poll is open for a week.

11. The winner has to pick the CAD-model for next speed rendering contest. Find one that is free of charge on websites (like GrabCAD.com (https://grabcad.com/)). You can use a model of your own a well.

12. Happy rendering! :)

Deadline is each Sunday, Midnight Pacific Time. If there are any questions or problems, discuss in this thread.

So how do we get these 4h render time courtesy of 3DOTP ?

I put a render for a 15000*10000 pixel render in the que on friday and gave it 24h to render over the weekend, came to work on monday to find it had failed to do the render.  All other renders in the Q that were in front of this particular one rendered out just fine.  I need this render today, so this sounds like a good time to test this render farm option ... :)

So can we include that we are using keyshot inside parallels running on a mac? Because then a 5 minute render is a 2 hour render for us T_T.
