Title: NEWBIE - currently evaluating KS as marketing tool
Post by: whcraft on January 09, 2015, 03:35:25 AM
I am the advertising manager for my company and am currently working with a demo version of KS in hopes of getting management approval for purchase.  I will be getting my 3D data from Creo 2.0.  I have some experience using Creo.  I can do basic assemblies, exploded views and assembly cuts.  I have not yet been able to figure out how to import an exploded assembly or an assembly with section cuts (needed for installation instructions).  Reading some of the other posts it seems possible to import these from Creo but I have not figured that out yet.  I do not have the plug-in but my data seems to come in fine.  I just need to confirm that I can import already exploded views and sectioned views.  We work with the construction and mining industry so some of my assemblies are very large and I only need to concentrate on a small portion of them for the marketing and instruction publications I create.  Any help, suggestions and info on importing the needed view would be greatly appreciated.  - William

Exploded views and section views are not supported. You will need to explode the view inside of KeyShot, and for section views you will need to create an assembly cut. The plugin and also the direct importer only support actual geometry and saved camera views.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm sure I will have a lot more questions as I continue my evaluation.
Now I just need to learn more about the exploded views, assembly cuts and camera views.
