I've had a few students asking me for recommended system builds now Ryzen 3000 CPUs are in play. I will make the move over to them, hopefully to a 3950X later this year - obviously GPU rendering could change this. But for reference, here's how a 2700X performs. Currently £230 new so for bang-for-buck builds, it still might be worth considering going for 2000 series processors.

FPS: 195.5 peak after 10 minutes.

Build:
AMD Ryzen 2700X, overclocked @ 4.1GHz
MSI B450 Tomahawk
16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200Mhz
Noctua NH D15S
Nvidia GTX970
NZXT H500
Windows 10 Pro

Really eager to see more results from Ryzen 3000 CPUs so if you have one, please upload your scores.

Yeah well I can't seem to find one for sell in USA/Europe lol. I am going to pull for the 3900x. But since I work offshore a lot it could be 6 weeks before i do my build. Oh well. Unless they are still out of stock at that point.

You can't find 3000 series processors for sale? We're coming out from that initial stage now so they should pick up. The 3900X is a great choice, seems to be performing really well. If you have to wait anyway, maybe consider the 3950X? Drops in September.
