Geometry editor - KS6

Does the geometry editor allow you to import a 'dumb lump' of 3D geometry and spilt it up by surfaces, thus allowing you to apply different materials to the new separate geometries?
I do hope so...

You can even completely separate the surface from the group/clump and move it independently or even animate that one surface too.
KS6 is the dogs gonads my friend
