Objects import with wrong colors

For some time now objects that I import do not keep their original colors. Different colored objects in the imported file will show up in Keyshot with the colors in the file randomly applied to parts. Since I group objects by colors this is a major pain. Maybe there is some preference file I should delete?

Thanks

Hi Claus,

What version of KeyShot are you using exactly (e.g. 5.1.2)? Also, what type of file are you importing?

Hi Chad,

I'm using 5.3.6 and importing obj.

Just tested a simple cube created with Blender and it's working okay for me. I attached it - try importing into KeyShot when you have a change. Everything is white except top is red and right is blue. If it comes in fine for you, then it may be your export settings in your modeling software.

Thanks Chad,

the cube comes in all blue. The colors are named blue, red and white but they are all blue, see attached.

Thanks for testing, Claus. Download the attached file to the same location as the cube OBJ file and try again. It should come in as intended.

If you use the same materials from KeyShot on your OBJ files consistently, you could try setting up a material template.

Thanks, it works as expected. Still wonder what's wrong when most of the time my materials are switched randomly. It's like the colors are there only they are assigned the wrong parts. I'll try to export obj from other software to see where the issue is.

Awesome!

When importing into KeyShot, check your import options under materials section - it may be messing with your colors in certain imports perhaps.
