Hello - I'm posting this image for comment and suggestions. Thanks in advance - Jamie

Yes, looks good. Could be rotated left slightly to get a better idea of the shape.

My only comment is that this looks to be a wider lens (probably default 25mm) which would not be used in this sort of photography, one would have to get way to close to be safe  to get a shot like this, and it makes the front of the plane look larger than the rear, that whole wide angle perspective thing. I wish we could reset the default lens to 85 which I prefer to start all my scenes at. Gives a good non-distorted look at the image without looking to "ISO". Love the framing and the lighting matching the backplate though!

Matt, your comment about lens size is interesting. You're correct, traditional air-to-air photography is shot at high zoom and as such flattens the subject. Real-world aircraft photography is also limited to a small set of views that are possible to compose from a camera platform aircraft flying in formation. The opportunity in rendering is to compose the shot in a way you could never achieve with real-world photography. That's what I'm trying for here, some combination of realism and stylized feel. I'll play with the angles and lens more, see if I can improve anything -

And that's not to say this isn't a compelling image. It really is, and for the reasons you state. Getting a look and perspecitve that traditional aerial photography can't get, and the more I stare at the image, the more I can appreciate that.

That's one reason I visit these forums on a daily (sometimes mulitple times a day ) basis. The images posted here broaden my view of what is possible and beautiful. This image is no exception. The more I look at it, the more i say leave it alone. I'll bet a longer lens would, like you say, flatten it out and make it less dramatic. Would be interesting to see a couple of images side by side with different lens lengths.

Three images rendered with 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm Lens Focal Length:

Thanks for posting those, its really neat to see the effect the lensing has on the image. I'm not sure really which image i like the best, I see good in all of them! The first the most dramatic which appeals to my artistic brain, but doesn't reveal the whole plane,  the last is more interesting to my technical brain, as I can see the tail and its relationship to the rest of the plane.

Still, very nice images.

Yes, the 100mm shot is really attractive. Looks great.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I did choose a longer lens and made this final image -
