Current FPS is 67..

Can you suggest a chip that would double this speed please?

Budget £800 on new desktop only

Is that £800 for the entire system or just the CPU(s)?

If it is the former, it is going to be tough getting double the performance of an i7 4790K on such a budget.
I would look into getting a PC based on AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, which almost doubles the performance and is the most affordable CPU option at that performance point.

Thanks Dries.. the 1700x is on my list.. £800-£900 for entire system.. excluding monitors

Not sure how many fps you would get with that machine, but it is pretty old (5 years probably).
I think it is seriously outdated, especially when taking into account recent CPU developments and releases. 2017 has been a pretty solid year for CPUs so far.
A Quadro 5000 is also ancient by today's standards (released in 2010).

At this price point I would definitely consider some of the newer options on the market.
You also need to ask yourself whether you need 64 GB RAM or a high-end graphics card.

E.g. a single AMD Threadripper 1920X is "only" £800 for the CPU and would be faster in KeyShot.

ok thanks Dries - I see the machine is old but was looking at the times for the Dual E5-2690 in benchmarks and they looked much faster.. so many different options available , difficult to make the right choice...

One tricky thing about these E5 Xeons is their "V" suffix.
There is a huge performance difference between E5-2690 (V1) and V4. It is an easily missed detail when glancing over specifications, but it is quite important.
