Hi Everyone,

I have 8 days left on the demo and I'm very impressed with Keyshot so far.
I'm ready to buy but have a couple of questions first if anyone can help.
Does the full version come with more materials than the demo, a friend had Keyshot 3 a few years ago and that seemed to have many more than in the current demo.
The other question is about lighting, I have experimented with different HDRI's and the best I seem to come up with I've attached below. It's far from the standard I've seen in the galleries here. Are there any HDRI maps anyone can recommend or is there more to it than that.

Thanks,
Mike.

Quick answer ? Everything is "tweakable". You'll  have to spend some time adjusting both materials/hdris to suit your needs. Everyone here uses KS in different industries and needs specific finishes on their product. You'll get there just by playing with the soft. There are plenty of both free/paid resources on the web such as hdri's, backplates, texture packages, etc. The standard integrated resources within Keyshot will suit you up to certain point. When you get better at it, you'll begin making your own.

I would not get discouraged if after only six days of use you are not generating work that is on par with what you see in the gallery here. The images in that gallery set the bar high and have been produced by people who have been using KeyShot for a while.  Use the gallery as a guide for what you can achieve with KeyShot once you put in some real time with it.

If you have not yet made use of the educational resources here, I highly recommend you take advantage of them. They will get you off and running quicker than just feeling your way around in the demo on your own.

There is also some great stuff here (older webinars) that have been migrated off the main site:

And you absolutely can not go wrong with Esben's channel:

 Hey there.
I've got some comments to answer the quick questions.
KeyShot comes with the same amount of example materials, textures, backplate and environments with demo and licenced version.
But you have the access to the cloud library where you can find tons of useful stuff. Luxion stored the materials from previous versions in the cloud.

And based on the license you'll buy you can tweak them for your needs, depending on the features in HD vs Pro Version.
So if you want to have full control you'll need the material graph and the HDRI editor that comes with the pro license and many more useful features like studios, layers and helpful passes for post processing and animation as well, etc.

Hope that helps.
Cheers
Marco

Hope that

Thanks for the replies and advice everyone, I'll look at those and other videos.

I've just brought Keyshot Pro as I'd like to eventually explore animation too and I've also taken a look at the cloud library, so much extra stuff there thanks.

All the advice is appreciated.
Cheers
Mike.

Regarding the HDRI's.

I think this may have been posted elsewhere on this site - this guy has just released all his previously 'paid for' resources for free.

Excellent resources, and well worth a look.

Thanks for the link peri, that's an excellent site.
