Lights not Hiding

I have a scene where I have several LED indicators lit by an array of light objects inside the housing. I am trying to go back and just re-render the surface that these are mounted to, and replace it in PS, but when I hide the indicator housing geometry and the LED array, the light is still being cast. The LED objects are turned off but the light is still being cast into the scene.

Things I've tried-
1) Lock and hide (didn't work)
2) Selected the surface with SHOW ONLY  option (didn't work)
3) Lock and Hide (didn't work)
4) Move to different group (didn't work, but when the group is hidden the light dims by half)
5) 5 told me that there were objects still casting light, so I used the SHOW ONLY option in the search bar of the Scene tab. All lights and groups are all turned off or turned off and locked.
6) I can't find any other objects that could be casting this light.

If I could copy/paste into another project and re-save it, it would rule out a corrupt project. BUt alas, I can't.

So it appears that even when turned off my lights are still casting colored light for some reason. Any Ideas?

Any chance you have a duplicate model set?

mattjgerard

OK, that's interesting.

I do have 2 model sets, both exactly the same but for some different placement of some other objects. Named default, it was most certainly turned off.

So, I switched from my working model set back to default, turned everything off, switched back to my working set and now everything is behaving the way it should.

went back and turned everything in the default set back on, switched back to working model set and everything is still working properly. I can turn off the LED's without light bleeding in from somewhere.

Like I said. Interesting.

I had a situation recently where I had an area light that was in its own model set (which wasn't active) showing up in my active set. What I did to fix it was:

1. Check the area light model set so it was active along with my model set.
2. Hide the geometry that had the light applied to it, then show it again.
3. Uncheck the area light model set so it wasn't active.

For whatever reason that seemed to sort everything out. And that seems to be fairly similar to what you just described. Interesting indeed.

That seems to be what happened here. Just rustled the branches a bit, and everything seems to be working fine now.

We did fix an issue related to hiding of lights in hidden model sets. It will be in an minor update to 7.2 which we expect to release shortly.

Good to know, thanks!

Did this update get pushed out yet? I'm still running into this issue again, there are half of the model sets have area diffuse lights acting as colored LED's, and this bracket is all on its own model set. This green result is only happening in the renderer, not in the live view.  The top image is from my live viewer in KS, the scene tree is next, with the  model sets that have LED's in them circled in red, then the render result in the last image with the gree cast. I was able to save this one with just desaturating in PS.
