Hello.

I'm very new to Keyshot, having only spent a few days playing with the demo version so I hope someone can help me out.

I'm adding a cube to my scene (edit/add geometry/cube) however I'd then like to be able to resize that cube to very specific values (in centimetres in my case). Is it possible to enter x,y, and z values rather than just using the move tool and scale access points? I want something to be say exactly 10 centimeters wide, rather than just eyeballing it!

Step one is to set your scene units in a new scene. Go to EDIT-SET SCENE-UNITS- and select cm. That will take keyshout of the undefined space and now your scene will have set units.

Then  add your cube, and under the POSITION tab under the scene tree you can then type in your initial measurements.

This is where things get a bit squirrly. When you do that, the XYZ units will reset to 1, and the main scale slider will jump to 10. There are some ambiguities  on how this system works, and there is a small movement to try to help redesign this little scaling system so that it is a little more user friendly.

So,  you will notice that if you keep the top level cube group , the size measurements under the Properties tab under the scene tree will still say 1, click the + sign , and select the child object . The size will now show 10x10x10. Like I said, its a bit squirrely, its not real intuitive to get exact object measurements created inside of KS, but if you think about the idea that Keyshot is not really for creating the content, it becomes a non issue.

If you need to make exacting geometry to specific sizes, you are better of downloading Blender and using that to create the geometry and then import it into keyshot for rendering.

Many thanks for the detailed reply. I'll give it a shot later this evening.

Cheers.
