why do the anim channel become diabled?

When I open a file that has animations assigned to a camera they are disabled. I must re-select the camera in the camera tab the in the project tab, open the camera and enable the animations. when I change to another camera i must do the same for that camera. and again and again and again. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone else experienced this?
