A little tribute to some of the greatest 'toons' in the world. :)

Took a while to figure out how to best do the emissive tiles...

Thanks!
Well, technically I didn't use emissive materials. :)

The 'toon panels' are of the translucent material type.
I applied the movie shots as diffuse texture maps (box map, no tiling) to each panel (thin extrusion). I cranked up translucency to 650.
Then I put a point light behind each panel and played with light intensities until I got the right diffusion of light through the panels.

I couldn't get quite the same dreamy effect using just emissive materials with a diffuse texture. The lighting looked too even and the panels too 'flat'.
With the translucent materials, the lighter areas of the texture actually seem to let light through more. :)

Nice one Dries... have no idea what the subject matter is exactly, but I love the render

And as for 'Lupin Girlfriend' that Aldo mentioned, I have no idea either, but she sounds ever so interesting  ;)

You've got me giddy over these, awesome!!  ;D

I did some tweaks to my 'panel alcove' material and contrast of the top right panel texture.

Thought floating panels of toon could be nice...
