Just re-installed the edu license as app kept crashing or would not import models or display examples provided (via Open).
Seems it has a problem with the (workspace) painter - how can this be remedied?

OS + KS version: see log file below
Models: step, igs + native

Sounds like a QT issue. Have you updated your graphics drivers lately?

BoatTech

I lost ability to use KeyShot this past Tuesday, worked just fine on Monday. After uninstall, install, and various other attempts, I finally got it running again. I opened KeyShot, and opened one of the sample files. Granted, it crashed a few times, but I just kept going back and trying it again. Then, I got this message after the last crash, and it's worked fine since then. I have a feeling it was a Windows update that messed with things, but that's just my opinion.

BoatTech

IT came by and looked at some settings, although I said it was working fine. Now it's not working again, crash, crash, crash.........................

Keyshot is maxing out my CPU if I use all cores. JUST sitting with a sample model, it's maxing out. I can change to half my cores, it will drop down CPU usage. Try to drop a material in, instant crash.

This sounds like a bad memory stick problem to me - If you're comfortable with running a Memtest on your computer, then do so, if not, then ask one of your IT guys to do one ...

You can get a free version of MemTest86 from here http://www.memtest86.com

And it perfectly normal that KeyShot maxes out all allocated CPU.

BoatTech

So, just with a model opened, it's normal for Keyshot to max out your CPU? I can see when rendering, that makes sense. But, if you're maxed just looking at a model, how are you to find the power to add/change anything? I'm not a hardware guru, so I'm probably off base here.............

With KeyShot you are always rendering - as soon as you import a model. It is fully interactive, so you can make any changes you would like.
