I'm using the "Iterative Save" option while I'm working. I have a few questions on how to really work with this feature.

If I have a list of bips, let's say the main one is test.bip. After working in the file for a while and saving at various points, I look in the working directory and see other files with names such as test.bip.4, test.bip.5, test.bip.6, etc... I never seem to have a bip.1, bip.2 the iterations always seem to start around 4, or 5; I have a lot of bip.24-29,etc... (with nothing before)?

So my questions are...
1) Why aren't there any earlier bip numbers?
2) Is the un-numbered .bip file the latest version?
3) I've got 9 iterations of a 160MB scene on my internal SD drive and my drive is getting full. Can I delete some of the older numbered versions?[/li][/list]

I find the iteration feature reassuring to have, I would just like to understand it better to make it more useful.

Thanks,
Rob

Hey Rob,

Good questions!

1) Backup Revisions will start at "2" since technically backup revision "1" would be identical to the initial save i.e test.bip. Backup revisions will be overwritten/removed based on the backup history depth you have specified in preferences. So if you have the default of 5, you will only ever have 5 revisions at any given time - this is why you are seeing .bip.24-.bip.29 with no prior numbers. Does that make sense?
2) Yes, the un-numbered .bip is the latest version and will be identical to the last serialized .bip.
3) You can delete the serialized revisions at any time without affecting the un-numbered .bip. So if you have a serialized revision that you know is stable you can delete all prior revisions to free up space.

Hope that helps!
