Hi, I have KS version 3.

Can someone please explain how (if it is possible) to render a surface as an "open weave"? ( like this image of a chair)

I want to be able to make the areas where there is no weave as transparent.  Is there an easy way to do this?  I'm not the sharpest KS user.

*what I mean is that I prefer not to have to model each strand of weave in my modeler, because sometimes the weaves are very complex.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi
I am no Keyshot expert, but try looking at Opacity Maps, as they offer mesh transparency options.

Yeah, you can use opacity maps, but I'm afraid that it is not going to look very realistic... Unless the chairs are supposed to be far away.

With the opacity maps you'll get transparent areas but you'll not get the thickness of the material and the weaved effect of strands going in front and behind of each other.

Give it a try anyways. It might look okay for your purpose.

Thanks everybody – I will try it.   Weave is a very complex thing.  Might have to just model each one, one-by-one if the opacity maps don't do the trick.
