Just downloaded and tested the keyshot splashscreen .bip
When I try to make a screenshot it takes forever to save.

I loaded the same scene in KS 1.9 and it took the screenshot in an instant. (just the way I always liked it so much: point and shoot..)

Also KS2 seems to slow my system down more than KS1.9 (DELL R5400  dual quadcore XEON, 8GB)

I now feel KS2.0 is suffering from the new UI. That is the last thing we want.
More options ok but I want PERFORMANCE.

For what its worth, I get 0 ( zero ) FPS when I load that scene. It nearly locks up my PC. It slowly creeps up to 1.9 FPS.  :-\

Also on other scenes taking screenshot takes a lot more time....

KeyShot 2 is a lot faster than KeyShot 1.9. Not sure what may cause the slowdown. We will look into it.

eric

even the empty startup screen takes about 15-20 sec. to save the screenshot.
(pressing "P" right after stanring KS2)

I'm running KS1 on the same system with no problems.

How do you measure the time it takes? Are you just looking at the message that is displayed, from when it appears to when it fades away?

Do the following: Open up the library, then go to the render tab. Rescan the library so all your images show up. Scroll to the bottom of the tab. Now click into the realtime window and hit "P". Notice that the screenshot shows up instantly.

Hope this helps.

This takes the same time.
in fact Keyshot totally freezes until I get the message that the screenshot was saved.

does keyshot2 do something 1.9 doesn't before saving the screenshot? (For example scanning libraries, or saving scene information)

My rendering library contains a lot of images. This doesn't seem in matter to KS 1.9 though.
My libraries are on a synchronized network map.

I see that the CPU all go up to over 90% when Keyshot is open (empty scene) and I don't have any other program active. I think this could be normal but maybe KS can't get enough processing capacity to save the screen shot?

Don't kow if this will help or not, but I was having some issues with keyshot grabbing thousands of images for the renders folder. I had mutliple shortcut icons in there so I couold put renderings in specific folders for specific jobs. It was using those shortcuts and grabbing everything in the folders that the shortcuts pointed to and freezing my machine.
I pulled the shortcuts out of those folders and everything works great (except it takes me a few more clicks to have renders save where I really want them to go instead of the default location)

eric

I use the exact same library locations (networked)  in KS2.0 as in KS1.9.
I have both installed on the XPpro x64 machine.

Saving a screengrab in KS 2 takes a lot of time while KS1.9 saves instantly.

On my machine at home I don't have this problem.

So I'm pretty sure the problem is in the machine or configuration.
Question is: whats the difference in the procedure saving screenshots between 1.9 and 2.0?

There is no difference. As I mentioned before, saving a screenshot is instant. You can take a look at the browser and see that the image is being saved instantly.

works fine here...

Does KS2 save screen shot camera positions???  I liked that feature.

Thomas,

As I said before it is NOT saved instantly. (also when I view in my browser)
Something is slowing it down. I can't figure out what it is. KS 1.9 works fine saving in the exact same location!

I want this to be cleared before I upgrade the other workstations to V2.0.
Now I save from Solidworks in V2.0 and open it in V1.9 to make the screenshots.

You can set this under the Preferences.
