Improved Search function

The search bar in the Scene tree is a  great element, but is there a way to delay running the search until the whole search word is typed in and I hit Enter? Right now I type the first letter and it starts searching and thusly locks up the app for a bit, then the next letter locks up the app again for a bit. It eventually works, but not efficient at all. Odd thing is too that when the search is happening and the app locks up, the right side of the interface squishes to the left, and a black blank window appears. The text and everything in the normal window is squished as well. It almost looks like a console window pops open unexpectedly, but nothing shows up. I tried to get a screen grab of it but no joy.
