That's really cool. A great way to create some new environments.  ;)

Here's a freebie I use with my iphone/ipad: http://photosynth.net/ or just search for Photosynth in the app store.

If it were able to shoot HDRIs I would sign up for one in a heartbeat.
But I guess it can't? ???

A bit too much gadgetty for my taste.

I don't see why it would be so hard to convert from this to HDRI .. ?

DriesV

Because you would need a set of images with different exposures.
I don't see how a device with no display would allow for such level of control...

Seems like terms get mixed.

So you are talking about HDRI's, while I am talking sphere mapping for reflections & lighting ?

I thought you WERE talking about HDRI. :D

If you want to use it for lighting (GI), you really want it to be HDR.
And then even if you'd want to use it as a spherical reflection map (no HDR), I'm not sure this thing will allow you to save out a suitable format.
From what I can judge now, this gadget uploads the raw pictures to the Panono cloud. Only there the panorama is generated from those base images. I can't find any documentation of being able to save out an actual spherical JPEG... ???

Considering it seems to be marketed as a hypersocial sharing look-where-I-have-been thingy I think it is unlikely to support this, as it'll be irrelevant for 95% of users.

Maybe it'll have a forum like luxion one day where you just ask nicely ...  ;D

''... It actually does HDR capture. And outputs JPEG.''

Now I have a reason to justify buying a drone :)
