any ideas what these dots and lines are ??

i get these weird dots and lines in my renderings, it goes away when i set diffuse transmission
to black...   any ideas ??

You mean the orange wireframe? These are IES light materials on the object. Click "L" to toggle them on and off.

no, if you look closely at the bottom of the red lamp youll see very faint circles...

I see it now - had to download the image and zoom in. Have you tried other materials to see whether you get the same artifacts?
