Martin, the material itself is really very simple.
It all comes down to good geometry and proper lighting.

Lately I'v been trying to introduce some transparency in translucent parts.
Here's an image after some trial & error with different passes in Photoshop.
Trying to get some specular transmission in thinner areas...
The challenge is to figure out how to do a pass that best represents 'thickness'.
Would be cool if one day KeyShot would have such material.
