Installation License Problem

I am encountering a strange issue on a computer.

I have quite a few users already attached to our license server running perfectly with a floating installer.  This single computer does not give me an option to input a license server.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times and restarted the computer in between attempts.  On every reinstall a message appears saying the license will expire in X days.  This is now down to two days.  I cannot find any option in the program to change the license server or input one.  On every other install I was given the option of inputting a server immediately on first use.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have the node locked version on the machine. You will need to install the floating version instead, so you can specify the server and access the floating license.

Let me know if you need the floating version download links.

Unfortunately this is not the case.  I am using the same installer on all machines.  I have the copy on a flash drive.  I actually installed this on another machine after just to verify I didn't somehow delete the old installer and put a different version on.

I also re downloaded the installer from this link to be 100% certain.

The installer worked on another machine instantly, but it still encounters the error on that specific machine.

EDIT: Also I uninstalled, restarted the machine, deleted the temporary files, cleaned the registery, and then reinstalled.

I have managed to recreate the problem on a test PC.

After installing Keyshot5 I dismissed the license server popup twice.  It now is doing exactly the same thing.  Your license will expire in X days with no option to input a license server.

The odd thing is the license server popup never even appeared on the first computer even after the initial install.  However it is the exact same problem.  I have run the test PC through the same process to try to fix it with again no luck.

Is there an option in the Keyshot5 application to attach a license server or change the current?  I have been looking and am unable to find this.

When uninstalling, it doesn't delete a particular file: Go to your KeyShot 5 resource folder and delete "keyshot5.xml" then do a reinstall. This will place a new XML file in the place of it and you should be prompted for the license server. Let us know if this helps or not.

I will give this a shot on Monday.

May I suggest adding an option to change the assigned license server via the local application for a future update.  It is pretty strange not being able to do this.  Even closing the license server window on first use should not break the install let alone future installs.

Thanks Chad,

That seems to have worked.  I still would suggest adding an option to change license servers in the application.
