So I'm a bit out of patience as I type this so I ask that everyone kind of bear with me on this.

I'm currently on the latest version of keyshot as of this issue (5.1.57)

I have asked a coworker to send me a .bip file to work with. He had the file set up with different scene sets and had different models in different scene sets with all materials assigned. The model that I actually need is in Scene set 3 (for arguments sake). HOWEVER, when I import his file into my file (since I'm working with several different models that all kind of need to fit together), only his default scene set is merged with my default scene set, all other scene sets and their respective models that were also imported exist as their own scene and cannot be moved to the default scene set where my original model is. (Does this make sense at all?) As far as I'm concerned this is a HUGE oversight and essentially makes scene sets useless for my application. Actually, the more I think about I think it's not only useless but dangerous because we now have a file that nobody else can take advantage of if set up correctly. The only recourse now would be to completely make a new file and assign materials from scratch, all because luxion has neglected to put a feature where you can move models between scene sets.

If I'm wrong, which I hope I am, and there IS a way to move models between scene sets. I would appreciate anyone who shows me how to do it. As of right now I'm completely screwed.

Let me know if I can clarify anything. It's difficult to describe the situation in words.

How has the original file been set up? Models should be always imported into the "Default" scene set, and then you build scene sets from there.

Hey p3ngu1n,

What you describe makes sense and I can clearly see how this could be an issue with certain workflow. You are correct that models cannot be "moved" between scene sets; however, .bips can be imported into scene sets. So instead of importing your coworkers scene into your default scene set you could import your .bip into their "Scene set 3" and work from there. I understand this is not an ideal workflow but for now this is how Scene Sets work.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Rex

Thank you Thomas and Rex for your replies.

Yep, It took me a while to realize how he set the file up. I've asked him to be more careful in the future. I can understand sometime's it's difficult because sometimes the scene sets are in a collapsed state so it's not immediately obvious which one you're working with at the time.

Is this something that can be addressed in a future update? Seems like it may be a pit fall for certain people and the ability to move and/or duplicate certain model elements into different scene sets would be great.

Thanks!
