Two thoughts:
1. Being a photographer and seeing selective focus, I always ask what is it you want the viewer to see?  Not sure, if we were shooting this for a client that we wouldn't want to show off the integrity of the threads or the coating of the material.  Not sure what.  But, that is the question we would ask in the photography studio.
2. Plated bolts today really have a lot of texture and bump to them.  Seems like a couple of different bumps would really go a long way here.

Thanks for your comments. I've made another version with a layer of dust applied to ground material.

And it looks so much the better for it too. It's not easy to make a bolt/screw/nut interesting - Great effort indeed.

Excellent render! The texture detailing is really nice, especially viewed full rez. And yes, that sublte layer of dust just pushes it that much further...and I'm all about detail :)
