More doodles with 7 Beta.

Features used : Complex IOR / Tri-Planar Mapping / Labels (enhanced) / Ambient Occlusion Pass

I absolutely adore the way labelling positioning etc works now, much more intuitive and easier to use than before.

DriesV

Looks great, John.
The overhauled texturing (including Label positioning and new mapping types) is definitely one of the hallmark features of KeyShot 7.
I am happy to see you agree.:)

Cheers Dries :)

All those little tweaks and seemingly small changes have made me love KeyShot like I did when I first started using it in 2012.

Now if only you'd add an 'invert' option for textures (as well as the MatGraph node) and a 'dithering' option for Vignetting to get rid of the nasty banding...

Hey John,

You mean add an 'Invert' checkbox for all Texture Types (like we have for e.g. Spots)?

Quoteas well as the MatGraph node
What do you mean? Add Invert to Textures as a general solution, just like the Invert node?

Hey John

QuoteThere is a MatGraph 'Invert Color' node that does what I want (even on greyscale images), but requires many more mouse clicks than just ticking an 'Invert' checkbox next to the texture

Small tip:
You can now right-click an edge (blue line) and add a Utility node in between two connected nodes.
That should be much quicker than in KeyShot 6. ;)

Hi John,

Out of curiosity, what would you use the "Invert" option for?

As a side note, the Invert option on spots does something almost, but not quite, entirely unlike inverting the color on the spots (it inverts the inside and outside of the spots and the direction of the falloff).

To reverse out roughness textures mainly Soren.

That's really good to know Dries, thanks :)

John the vizard

Is that like 'John the Wizard' ? or am I misinterpreting that completely and don't know what a vizard is ? ;)

DriesV

Visualize Wizard --> Vizard

?

Sounds catchy.

Dries

Despot

Ha ha, yes, by jove I think you've got it Dries... ;)

I never made that connection - sorry Magnus, I'm such a dummkopf sometimes

Magnus Skogsfjord

Hah, visualization wizard indeed. I forgive your dummkopfness!
