Hello,

I noticed that Keyshot 7 said something about how their new cloudy plastic material could be used to create an ABS plastic material.

What I would love to try and be able to do (though am really new to Keyshot) is to create a realistic ABS plastic material that you would find on a Lego minifigure, using the cloudy plastic material.

Anyone here able to help explain the process? :)

Hi!

I might be mistaken, but I think the reference to the ABS material is to a cloudy transparent ABS. Something like this: http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_256855_1.jpg

The ABS on the lego figures are quite opaque and personally I would go for the standard plastic material for that. Maybe the translucent material, but very subtle.

The trick to make the material realistic looking is to add subtle bump and roughness maps that brings out those tiny imperfections that you see in the reference image you've posted.

Hope this helps a bit.
Best,

Hi,

What Esben said. :)

The Cloudy Plastic is really intended for semi-transparent appearances.
