Custom Toon [vectorized look]

Hi. I am trying to achieve a 2D - look like vectorized render. I usually achieve this effect just exporting my rhino files to illustrator.
In this case I might need to animate this visual so I would like to prepare the material and be ready just in case.

Few questions:

- Regarding the speed, I am noticing toon material without reflections, materiality, shadows and ground...is rendering at 2 FPS in my viewport. It seems a little bit weird, since the photorealistic renders go extremely faster than that. Just to know if I am doing something wrong. I am not trying to open a debate/critic to the toon material. I just want to know if I need to press something to optimize the speed of a 'line' render without any light effects on it.

- Regarding line quality. I have been watching tutorials on you tube from KS about how to use toon material. I understand that 'contour angle' will add/decrease details. I am not trying to get the pencil/art look. I would like to have all the lines of my model not fading out and with a constant width. Like if I was exporting the model to illustrator where there is not 'interpretation' of the camera perspectiva or model angles. Just exactly all the lines. In addition to that I would like to have a different contour line for the main outline.
I am not sure if I am expressing properly, but please feel free to re-ask if I did it wrong. I am close to the mood I want to achieve, but I am still getting in same ports of the model certain 'boolean differences' where the curve line progressively fades out and gets 'rougher'. The contour quality is set to 50. I am not sure, but I think this must be enough since the standard value for KS is 1. 

- Last question. Can I use performance mode to achieve high quality lines?  I am not using illumination or reflections or shadows. So it might help ?

It should be running quite quickly.

1. Try turning on Performance mode.
2. Are you working with NURBS or tessellated data? If your tessellation is very high or working with NURBS, this could cause the slow behavior.
3. There should be a slider called Contour Quality in the advanced settings. Increase that to about 5 for a more vector-like line.
4. The line will fade out based upon the contour angle. If part of your geometry is above that threshold and that same surface transitions to being below that threshold (the angle you input for Contour Angle) it will fade out. You can't control this outside of reducing the contour angle value.
5. A contour quality set to 50 is probably why your machine is running slow. I would never recommend that setting unless you are absolutely sure a lower value will not do.

1. Performance did not change that much, but I improve the speed since I had some duplicated layers running together  ::)
2. I imported the file as STEP from Solidworks (I think its running as tassellated data (std values from KS).
3. I upgraded the value to 5.
