Aurora Glossy Effect

Hi there,

currently I am trying to achieve this kind of effect (backside of the phone):

The company Honor called it aurora effect (like the popular nail polish trend). I've tried to achieve similar results with the "Anisotropic" Material Type and different layers of specular/bump maps. But especially in animation, it looks too static. I believe I'm on the wrong way. Maybe someone has a better idea?

I've seen this effect achieved in KeyShot. The solution isn't very simple and required a fair amount of work. Out of respect of the person who created it, I won't try to explain how it was done.

My suggestion for you is to get your hands on a sample and look at how that material is actually physically manufactured and try to replicate that in KeyShot. No materials straight out of the KeyShot library will give you this exact effect. Good luck.

I still working on that. Once I'm done, I'm going to share my results/workflow, too. :)
It's challenging. Actually I know how those phones are build. I've got some samples, here. But sometimes reality and simulation isn't quit the same.
