This keep happening...a long render that runs for a few hours shows 100% COMPLETE in window, but when I click off the render window and look at the file in the folder it is saved to, I get the "We can't open this file" error.

1/ I never had such an issue. But of course the first question I'll ask you is : why on earth would you use Keyshot 6.3 when there have been a few updates of keyshot 7 already. Updating your version to the last MAY very well fix the problem.
2/ A few hours for a render with Keyshot ?  :-X I rendered what I'd call ultra heavy (50+ million polygons) and complex scenes and it's always been ultra fast. 250-400 samples of any scene already gives outstanding results.
3/ Before rendering, pre-render a complex region of your image with a huge amount of samples. When this region looks fine enough, check how many samples have been calculated already and you know this number should be all right for the rest of the scene. So now remove the "region" from the render option. Define the maximum amount of samples according to the test you just did on a region. And all will go fine.

But let's say it's hard to get errors like the one you described given the fact that whenever you interrupt a download, you're asked whether you want to simply stop the render or stop and save it. It's very safe.
The only thing (really) missing from Keyshot is when doing KeyshotXR renders. There is no option to pause the sequence and render it later. If your KeyshotXR is 750 frames and your computer is heating like crazy, you got no other option than wait hours and hours. This sucks.

Anyway good luck with your issue. And update to the latest version.

Hey, MJ. If you shoot me the file, I'll take a look, test it here and see if I can spot an issue. Sorry to hear of this.

Hi MJDesign,

The part where the final product is written to disk is not currently part of the render progress status, and I think this is what you are seeing. The rendering can be 'done' in the sense that everything is rendered, but not done in the sense that the output has been written to disk - which can take a long time for large files and many render layers for example.

This is not ideal and we are aware of this. Until then, wait until the render output window can be closed and the render dialog is not "greyed out" anymore. Be patient, it can take a while.

Thanks Soren-That is exactly it. I just jumped the gun thinking that "done" was done.
