Hi all

Will the coming of the 64 core Ryzen from AMD have influence on the licensing of keyshot?
I can be mistaken but I thought I read there is a local limit on how many cores a gui license will handle/render.

Will prices be adjusted to compensate for these higher core counts per processor on rendernodes? 1500 for 64 cores is petty steep.

Cheers

I could be wrong, I am often am, but aren't there only 32 cores with that new CPU? (yes, 64 threads) but the license would only count the cores, not the threads?

I also could be wrong but I think you (PerB) may be confusing the core count of your processor with the number of cores in outside vendor rendering services such as '3d Off the Page' that charge by number of processors used for your job...

Yeah, I think the core licensing is just for the Network Rendering purposes.
Your regular program license is good for as many cores as your machine can contain. As I understand it, if your machine can run 200 cores, you're good to go. It's just for when you dole it out to multiple machines that it becomes limited.

We ran KS7 on our 112 thread dual xeon machine without an issue.

Internal to the machine running Keyshot the core count is irrelevant. It only counts on Network rendering nodes. So pack that local workstation with as many speedy cores as you can!

Thanks for clearing this out guys. I was indeed confusing core counts with threads ;)

A slight correction here though... KeyShot counts cores and threads all the same when it comes to NR licenses.

Can confirm. We hold a 32 core license, and are running a 32 core HP Z8. Right now we have hyper threading turned off, as from what I could tell running 64 threads would not improve render times under a 64 count license. The machine is running full tilt on all 32 cores as I type this, but am I'm only using half the potential of the machine? Wonder if there is a 1 day 64 core license I could test just to see. I mean the thing runs the camera benchmark at 450+fps, so I'm not complaining at all, but still.....
