3D Artist – supporting Global Product Development for Hyster-Yale Group, Inc. (HYG)

HYG, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding full-time opportunity for a 3D Artist (product rendering and animation) in our facility located in the Portland, Oregon area. HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. We are one of the global leaders in the Material Handling industry and have been building relationships and partnering with our customers, suppliers, dealers and employees for over 80 years.

HYG is looking for an 3D/VFX artist to spearhead our transition from photography based product marketing to digital rendering and animation.  This position will be instrumental in fostering a digital brand presence for a global corporation.  Work with cross functional teams including engineering, marketing, technical training, and service, across 14 global locations in 7 countries.  Our team needs your creativity and expertise in photorealism to bring our products to life.

Responsibilities:
•   Rendering: Deliver high-impact digital photorealistic product representations in support of internal and external marketing campaigns for all Hyster-Yale global operations. 
•   Animation:  Work with teams to develop storyboards and create/edit animations and optimize animations for delivery.
•   Rendering/Animation Lead:  Project coordinator interfacing with marketing, engineering, and outside rendering firms as needed to provide data preparation, coordinate workflow, and provide artistic direction on larger rendering jobs.

Qualifications:
•   Amazing eye for detail in color, lighting, & shading.
•   Bachelor Degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Photography, or equivalent experience.
•   Very high proficiency in computer rendering using programs like Keyshot, Maya, 3DS Max, Cinema4D, Blender, or VRay.
•   Skilled at creating complex material shaders to achieve photorealistic accuracy.  Familiarity with color reproduction, procedural textures, bump mapping, opacity maps, and material layering/graphs.
•   Animation development including kinematics (i.e. skeleton/bones), complex motion, deformable bodies, particle systems, video editing, compression/codecs.
•   High proficiency in digital graphics & image post processing (Adobe Photoshop).  Color space, advanced image editing concepts (layering, masking, filters).  Strong working knowledge formats to support image delivery format (print/web).  Adobe ACE a plus.
•   Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other animators and manage projects on tight schedules.
•   Photography coursework or experience (lighting and composition).
